The Costa Blanca is one of the most underrated stretches of coastline in Spain for golf. While the Costa del Sol attracts the majority of the attention, the east coast between Alicante and Denia has a strong and growing golf infrastructure -- with resort courses like Las Colinas and La Finca drawing serious golfers from across Europe -- alongside a climate that delivers more than 320 days of sunshine a year and mild winters that make it a reliable year-round destination.
The region covers a wide stretch of coastline and varied landscape: from the flat, pine-fringed terrain around Alicante to the dramatic limestone mountains inland from Benidorm and the gentle hills of the Marina Alta north towards Denia. Direct flights into Alicante airport serve most of the region easily, with transfers to most hotels under an hour. For packages and availability, visit our Costa Blanca golf holidays page.
The Costa Blanca offers something the Costa del Sol does not always deliver: more space, lower course fees at many venues and a quieter atmosphere overall. The flagship courses -- Las Colinas Golf and Country Club and La Finca Golf -- are genuinely world-class layouts that have attracted international recognition without yet commanding the same visitor volumes as the Marbella or Mijas courses. For golfers who want quality without the crowds, this region makes a strong case.
The area around Torrevieja in the south holds the record for the most sunshine hours in Spain, and temperatures in winter sit between 14 and 18 degrees -- cooler than the Canaries but milder than most of mainland Europe. Spring and autumn are genuinely excellent months here. For a full seasonal comparison, see our guide to the best time to visit Spain for a golf holiday.
One of the finest resort courses in Spain and regularly ranked among the best in Europe. Las Colinas is a Jack Nicklaus II design set in a protected natural park near Guardamar, with fairways threading through pine forest, lavender and rosemary scrub. The layout is intelligent, the conditioning is consistently excellent and the experience feels genuinely premium from start to finish. It is the headline course on the Costa Blanca and the one most groups will want to include in their itinerary.
A well-regarded resort course in the hills inland from Torrevieja, part of a larger resort complex including hotel accommodation. More accessible than Las Colinas but well-maintained and popular with visiting golfers for the combination of quality and value. Suits all handicap levels and works well as a second or third round during a week's stay.
Set in the hills north of Alicante city, Bonalba is a traditional parkland course with mature trees and good views towards the coast. It tends to be less busy than the southern resort courses and offers a more classic golf experience. Hotel Bonalba sits adjacent to the course.
Two courses -- Poniente and Levante -- part of the Melia Villaitana resort complex in the hills above Benidorm. A good option for groups based in Benidorm who want on-site golf access without transfer logistics. Poniente is the more challenging of the two.
Set in the hills behind Denia in the Marina Alta, La Sella offers a different character to the southern courses -- more mountainous terrain, cooler in summer and with the dramatic Montgó massif as a backdrop. The Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort sits directly on site.
Technically outside the Costa Blanca but worth including for golfers wanting a prestige round. Designed by Javier Arana and set in a protected coastal pine forest near Valencia, El Saler is consistently ranked among the top five courses in Spain. The Parador El Saler sits on the course.
The southern Costa Blanca is where the region's two headline courses -- Las Colinas and La Finca -- are located. This stretch is the right base for golfers whose priority is playing the best layouts the region has to offer. Alicante city itself is a genuinely good base with a strong food scene, a castle, a working harbour and easy access south along the coast. See our Alicante golf holidays page for packages.
Benidorm delivers well for golf groups. The resort infrastructure is extensive, hotels are plentiful at all price points and the Melia Villaitana complex gives groups an on-site course option in the hills directly above the town. For groups where the Benidorm resort atmosphere suits the wider party, it works well. See our Benidorm golf holidays page.

The main season for UK golfers. Temperatures sit between 14 and 22 degrees and rainfall is minimal across most of the region. March and April are the peak months for course condition and comfort -- the courses are well maintained and the landscape is at its most attractive after the winter rains.
Excellent months that often offer better value than the peak season. Courses are in strong condition, temperatures are warm without being extreme and the region is noticeably quieter than August. Two of the most underrated months for a Costa Blanca golf break.
Temperatures inland can reach 38 degrees. Coastal areas are more manageable and early morning tee times are the norm. Not the optimal time for a focused golf trip, though the beach facilities at Benidorm and Alicante work well for non-golfers in the group.
Quiet and affordable, with good course availability. Conditions are mild by UK standards and a short winter break -- particularly in the southern Costa Blanca around Orihuela and Guardamar -- can deliver genuinely comfortable golf when UK courses are closed or waterlogged.
Las Colinas Golf and Country Club near Guardamar is the headline course -- a Jack Nicklaus II design set in a protected natural park and regularly ranked among the best in Europe. La Finca Golf near Algorfa is a well-regarded resort course that suits all handicap levels. El Saler near Valencia, while technically outside the Costa Blanca, is one of the top five courses in Spain and worth including for serious golfers visiting the region.
Yes, particularly in the south around Alicante and Orihuela Costa. This area records some of the highest sunshine hours in Spain and temperatures rarely drop below 12 degrees even in January. Courses remain in good playable condition throughout winter and availability tends to be excellent with fewer visiting groups than the Costa del Sol.
Las Colinas Golf and Country Club is approximately 45 minutes from Alicante airport, making it one of the more straightforward resort golf destinations in Spain to reach from the UK. Most other Costa Blanca courses are within an hour of the airport.
Yes. Alicante city is a strong base for non-golfers with a genuinely interesting old town, castle and harbour area. Benidorm has full beach and resort facilities. The surrounding area offers day trips to Guadalest, the salt lakes at Torrevieja and the town of Altea for those who want to explore further afield.
